Week 4 was one of the first serious tests for the 2026 Top 25: Florida knocked off Ole Miss, Wisconsin rallied past Penn State and several ranked teams were left with questions.

The week’s biggest surprises

  • Florida #21 52 — Ole Miss #4 28
  • Wisconsin 24 — Penn State #13 20
  • Wake Forest 30 — Louisville #16 27
  • Mississippi State #24 31 — Missouri #19 24

Wisconsin won 24–20 at Penn State after trailing 20–10 late. Colton Joseph’s 72-yard pass to Jacob Harris with 1:13 left completed the comeback. [2]

Texas remains No. 1, but suffered in Knoxville

Texas beat Tennessee 20–17 to stay 4–0. Tennessee recovered a late onside kick and had one final possession to tie it: a hard-earned win, not domination.

Georgia and Oregon deliver

Georgia beat Oklahoma 41–13 after capitalizing on four turnovers and taking a 28–0 halftime lead. Oregon beat USC 41–27 after a 27–27 tie early in the fourth, closing with 14 unanswered points.

Navy lost 24–20 to UAB after entering the fourth quarter ahead 20–17. Jackson Gutierrez, making his first start, rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown; two fourth-quarter turnovers proved decisive. [4]

The next focus is Navy at Air Force on October 3: a meaningful game in the service-academy rivalry and the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. Gridiron Spain will follow the road to Navy’s October 24 Homecoming through Road to Annapolis.

What comes next

The stories to follow are Ole Miss’ response, Florida’s rise, Texas A&M’s reaction, Oregon’s momentum, the pressure on No. 1 Texas and Navy–Air Force.
